locking mechanism and non locking 5 speed

locking mechanism and non locking 5 speed

does anybody know the difference and can you match a 5 speed with 3.5 vq

The "locking" transmission has a Viscous Limited Slip Differential.

can you match it with a 3.5 vq or does it have to be 6 speed ,, like what parts are compatible and what not ,, thnx for the reply

I would be willing to go out on a limb and say that a 4th gen 5speed would mount up to a vq35de

thnx for the reply,,,, but what's the point of contact between the engine and tranny anyways isnt it the flywheel and the clutch so can we swap clutches between 6 speed to 5 speed or flywheels from 3.0 vq to 3.5 vq

I would probably do a 4th gen flywheel and clutch. I don't know if they are different of not though. Remember that the 2001 came with a 3.5 and a 5 speed.

This is the first I've ever heard of a 2001 w/a 3.5.

This is also the first I've ever heard of a 3.5 matched to a 5spd.

Where can I get one of these? It was my understanding that the Maxima didn't get the 3.5 until 2002...and the only manual transmission option was 6spd.

I am probably wrong. it has happened before. I thought the 2000 was the only 3.0 5th gen. of course I know crap about 5th gens.
