Question for people with OEM spoiler?

What did you do with the stock 3rd brake light? Is there a way to take it out and carpet over it or something? It's not a huge deal, it just seems kind of wasted.

if you have a junkyard in your area, you can call them up and see if they have any maximas there.. then drop in and take a look around. you might get lucky.

My 98 GLE had the spoiler when it was purchased at the dealership. I have a small plastic plate on the rear deck where the 3rd brake light would have been.

Yep, I've seen tha plastic plate on some. I assume the bracket can be unbolted or cut and you can get the plastic piece from the dealer. I was hoping to get a spoiler soon. How many of you expierience rust from the mounting points.

I have no plate or light on the rear deck. I have LEDs in spoiler, because that is how the SE-L came from the factory. Love it!

You ought to be able to unscrew that light though. Take a look, and try it out. Let us know what happens.

I have just the LED stirp and a one piece back dash board I love it... I have not noticed any rust at the mounting points and my car was a Colorado native before I bought it out here in arizona

I think the spoiler lights look kind of dumb with the rear deck light. A lot of GLEs came this way, because the spoiler was an add-on from the dealership, not the factory.

I have a GLE w/ the 3rd brake light that i had to take out. I bought a replica spoiler about 5 months after i purchased the car. I went to Nissan for that plastic cover and they shafted me. Instead i got a piece of metal wrapped in fabric that didn't match my color grey. Not to mention It didn't fit the hole.

That's how ALL SEs came from the factory.

Mine has the LED too, just the leftover 3rd brake light. It doesn't really bother me, just maybe I could get a few bucks from the junkyard

I've seen this done before but don't remember where i saw it from. But have any of you guys thought about replacing the red LEDs with white? That would look kinda cool.

that would be kinda illegal too. Signals, probably cuz you don't have to signal to turn but your brake lights go on no matter what. I would hate to be the guy being blinding by 6000000 MCD 5mm leds.
