Bad motor mount and slicks?
Is it worse for the drive train to launch on slicks with a bad motor mount? Wheel hop is caused by spinning the tires....but with slicks there will be no spinning.....but slicks are harder on the drivetrain. Any thoughts? I am going to replae the mount anyhow but don't know if it's important to do it before I go to the track in the spring.

A broken mount teamed with slicks will possibly break more mounts because the engine will torque much more violently in it's mounts because of the immense traction of the slicks. The driveline shock is much more violent with slicks even though you can't feel much because of the springy sidewalls of the slicks. This is why I refuse to run slicks on my car. The shock load has to go somewhere and that somewhere is your tranny.

I have not had any worries about busting anything, but that is becasue I have seen Neal run so many times on slicks w/o a problem......but he does have a freak Maxima so I may not be as lucky. I guess I might try going easy on the first few passes and see what kinda 60' I get. I am looking for 1.9's at least.

I think I may have a bad motor mount, and have thought so for a long time. I haven't looked at it, but I do get some pretty harsh clunking sometimes when going from forward to reverse or reverse to forward.
I'm told, though I haven't seen it on video myself, that I still spin the slicks off the line when I launch, for maybe 10 feet or so. This would absorb some of the driveline shock if I am indeed spinning some.
