Need info on dashboard warning lights

Hello,
While I was driving my 98 Max SE on the highway, the battery and brake warning lights came on simultaneously. The car was still running and the gauges still seemed to work. This is the 2nd time this week this has happened. Does anyone have any info/insight on this? Thanks!!!

Forgot to add that the warning lights turn off by themselves after a while (didn't turn the car off).

You could have a bad alternator that is not producing enough voltage causing the battery light to come on. There is a recall out for the 97~98 Maxima alternators. I would go to or call a Nissan dealership and have them check your VIN # to see if it’s on the recall list or not. The reason your brake light came on is that it’s wired into the battery charge circuit. I think this is for safety reasons so that if the cars voltage is low people will stop immediately and check.
