I have had the same problem in my 95 max. Its not the clutch (just had mine tranny rebuilt & new clutch), and mine still has this problem (around 2000 rpms). Its probably a clogged fuel filter, maybe pcv, or a coil pack. However, I would wait until your car throws a code before replacing expensive parts. This problem is not that big a deal until your computer tells you. May want to clean your MAF, see other posts for that.

 

I have a fuel filter on the way as we speak. Where is a good place to get some good coil packs.....?......NAPA? I think I might just get some new ones anyway. If that doesn't fix the problem, then I will let the computer throw a code.
