I just ordered the Kumho's for my 1999 SE-Limited and was wondering if anyone else is running these tires. They were only $75.00 a piece with a shipping charge of $12.95. It is kinda hard to beat that price. I am interested to hear your feedback. Thanks in advance.

From what I heard, these tires are good in dry and wet, and have an excellent tread life!! I know 'Chunger' has them on his 18" Rims...but I can't think of anyone else at the moment.

Can't beat that price!!

I put them on my '99 SE rims about 3 weeks ago. Even made it to work in the snow. No disapointment yet.

its either thr kumho's or nitto 450's for me. size 225/50r/16 would look great on a lowered max. your car would look like a sleeper with the stock rims and means looking rubber. i myself would go with the nittos, they are $386.00 shipped to your door, with that size 225/50/16.

when I had em I noticed the Kumho's were a little loud on the highway. I noticed when I was trying to listen to the radio and suddenly realized, damn that noise is coming from the tires.
but otherwise they aer great tires

I've been running them for about 3 weeks now. They seem to hold the road very good but due to road conditions (wet and snow) I haven't really tested them out. I've also heard good things about them and for the price they are hard to beat.

With my ears as a test device the Kumho's are quieter than the factory Goodyear rubber.

I bought the Kumhos from tire rack. They don't carry the Nittos but their 225/50/16 Kumhos were only $77.00 a piece. If you go to 225/50/16 are there any consequences like speedometer or any clearances?

my nittos 450 str8 suck
-real loud, sounds like a plane is flying by.
-no grip, i was slipping and sliding over here in la.
-overpriced.

kumhos: after reading up on it at tirerack, seem like the way to go.
-way cheaper
-good treadlife
-good traction

basicly what i need in a tire for everyday driving.

btw..i have 17x7.5 and im going to get 235/45/17 size tires.
america tire company qouted me for 460 out the door(mounted and balenced)

The Kumho's are Ultra high performance tires right?

What if I was to use them in Snow?

I am looking to either sell the rims with the 215/60/16, thats right I said 215/60/16 I have on the rims now, it makes the rim look small and car look like a monster truck on stock suspension, the tire is Goodyear Eagle GA M+S.. They are quiet and all but handle like **** in snow.... I need a good performing ALL SEASON tire in preferably 225/50/16..

Can I run Kumho's in snow?
Anyone heard of Sumitomo HTRs? Someone reccomended those for a good All around tire with fair threadlife.

These are some real capable tires y'all, let me tell you. The price is right as well as the performance and tread life. Great for everyday driving conditions. They're quiet as hell too.

I've had them since 10-2000

I got some during a long road trip and have put about 10,000 miles on them since.

They handled extremely well when new in the dry on the twisties of Big Sur and Yosemite.

Road noise was MUCH quieter than the worn Goodyear RSAs I had.

Wet traction is excellent on corners in my opinion, but on braking I do lock up sometime(when wet) - No ABS...

Braking on dry was only tested hard once- I locked up all 4 wheels and the car stopped nicely with good control..

Overall I am very satisfied with these tires, although my alignment must be off a little cause I have some excessive wear on the front right outer edge(but not too bad)..

I can't compare these to any other tires on this car, but I must say they are by far the best 'bargain' tires I have ever driven on..

Oh after 10,00 miles the wear on them is very minor. These should go 30,000 easy..

Re: I've had them since 10-2000

Speaking of Khumos I am thinking of getting them also. Here is a question: I've noticed that the 17" sized tire for the MAX has a lower UTOG rating than the 16" sized tire for the MAX ( there is a V rated versus Z rated spec for the 16"). Does it mean then the 16" will last much longer? Any comments?

Kumhos are excellent tires. Get them.

The road noise is ok. It's not as quiet as the SP 5000 that comes on the 2k GXE, but it's on the quiet side. The performance is very very awesome, but I had ****ty tires before, so I might be biased. Anyways, you can't beat the price of 75 a pop for that kind of performance. But remember, since these are directional tires, you can't rotate them yourself. But here it's only 10 bucks to rotate them.

I got mine two weeks ago and they've been great. No complaints at all and the price was Awesome. They've already saved me once, my original tires would spin out alot and not stop very well. These have much better traction especially around turns.
Friday someone braked real hard in front of me and I slammed on the brakes and stopped just in time behind them, with my original tires I would have been definately hit them.

Rotational tires can be rotated by anyone. The only difference is that you cannot change the rotational direction of the tire when you rotate them. Meaning that you must only rotate them front to back, no criss crossing. If you want to criss cross them you would have to have it done somewhere because they need to re-mount (and balance) the tire to change it's rotational direction. Front to back should work fine.

I bought my tires through tirerack and got them mounted and balance at NTB. I get them rotated for free every 6000mi. Ask the place that mounts them what their policies are.

Has anyone used these tires in the snow? I need tires desperately, but not sure which ones to get. I live NJ so the snow factor has to be taken into consideration. If anybody has any experiances let me know.

Black97. I have these tires in the 234-45-17. Wet and dry is pretty good. Now for snow, they are not good at all. But then again, they don't market this tire for snow anyway. It could have been the fact that I have fairly wide tires but I don't think you can ask a $100 tire(for 235-45-17) to be good in the dry, wet AND SNOW. If you need good snow ability, these are NOT for you. You should at LEAST be looking at some type of all seasons and probably be look for dedicated snow tires. I have a set that I could probably sell you.

Get the tires and then buy snow chains from pepboys. Otherwise you're going to spend a ton of money on tires that perform good in wet, dry, and snow. I live in PA, so I know what you're talking about with the snow...these cars suck in the snow!!
