Is the maxima your only car?
the max is the daily driver. I like it, works great for that purpose.

Maxipad is my only car for now, but i plan on getting a project car shortly. A 2nd Gen Probe GT is in the works. I had one before i got the max and loved it. Looking to get it in the very very very low 13s, maybe squeeze out a 12.9...
The maxi will then be retired from anymore performance mods...

No and thank goodness its not. 1st and 2nd don't work in Drive. I have to put the car in 2nd to take off then switch to Drive once I'm up to 40. My backup car is a 90 mustang 2.3L. It has its own case of trans trouble but its no where near as bad as the Max is right now.
98 Max SE is one of 3 rides of mine. I put them in 3 categories...
All weather car:
1988 Dodge Caravan - mom had a very similar 84 Caravan when I was a kid, and being the car freak that I was, I wanted to drive it bad. I actually drove it to college for a couple years, but in my last year of school, I scooped up the 88 for $1300. It quickly needed at least that much in repairs, and I cursed myself for buying it, but I still have it 3 years later, and it's gotten the name "the 88 Escalade" and is a favorite road-trip machine for me and the crew. Despite my GF's desires, this one is gonna be around for a while. This ride will probably get some kinda turbo treatment to it when I'm older and bored. One guy near me in Chicago runs 12's with his 89 turbo van, but he's running a 4-banger, which has readily available turbo parts. My Mitsu 3.0 V6 doesn't have **** available, but the bottom end is the same 3.0 as the 3000GT...
Nice weather car:
1998 Nissan Maxima - GF's dad is a Nissan mechanic, when it was time to replace my daily driver (90 Lumina) I figured I may as well go with something I can get cheap/free parts for. Plus the idea of the 5-speed had me hooked, so as soon as I found a nice one, I scooped it up. I'll problaby have it another year or 2, as I've kinda ran out of sensible mods to do to it ($4k+ is a bit more than I'd spend to turbo a FWD 4-door) so up next is either a C5 Vette, G35 coupe, or BMW 5-series. ***** with RWD and stick is a must for the Maxima replacement.
Awesome weather car:
1962 Chevrolet Corvette - Inherited it from my dad, it'll be a lifelong project, but it's currently complete enough to enjoy driving hard without feeling bad about it. Paint isn't perfect, neither is the interior or really any aspect of it, but it's a blast to get on... just not in the curves. Suspension and steering from that era makes my Caravan feel like a real performer.
Anyone else in a cold weather area ready for winter to be done? Sad how excited I got to see 40's in the forecast for the coming week. Even sadder is how warm it will feel. Damn I love Chicago, but damn I hate winter.
