hard driving with high miles
my max has 120k miles on it and i was wondering when is too many miles to be doing hard driving (burnouts, 1/4 mile runs at the track, and taking it to redline). im not saying that i plan on hitting the redline everyday, but i do have a 5spd and i like to take advantage of what ive got. i just dont want to worry about mechanical breakdowns or any engine problems caused directly with this type of driving, because i dont think the parents would be to pleased with that. so has 120k already reached the limit and i should be granny driving, or do i have have a few more miles to go before i should worry about something breaking. also i just got my liscence so if this is a retarded question go easy on me.
also who has a high milage engine but still takes it to the track every now and then, and have you had problems before.

Man, talk about compression in the corner. Don't worry about the driving style issue. Import cars can handle all kinds of abuse. If you had a Sunfire of something it would be a different story.

148 and going strong. I do have one concern. I have an auto so that might be the cause, I don't know. But everytime I floor it and get to oh, 5500 RPMs or so and take it to the redline, the engine makes a bit of a different noise. I can't really explain it, but I let my dad listen and he said it might be the valves since their going so fast. *shrug* any ideas as to what it is or what I could do to fix it, or is that normal?

If you are interested in the Slipstreams, I think the best spot to get em is
www.machiii.net
$450 a set with shipping included for 15"
$500 for 16" and at only 13.5 lbs... hard to beat that deal.
For those who are feeling wealthy (I was) consider SSR type C 16x7.5 at 12.8 lbs. for around $1100. Darn nice looking wheels...(on sale @ tirerack for $259)
PS thanks for the kudos -

I thought you were saying they were $500/rim until I looked on the site. I was gonna say you're a dumbass. That is a great price for a 12Ib rim. Doesn't Ceasar have the SSR's in that size. No wonder he's so quick.

SSRs look 5x as good in my opinion. Just a beautiful wheel. Only drawback might be someone agrees to the point that they jack em off ya!
The best wheels that I have seen anywhere... you can go up to 245 width. And they are 12.8 lbs in 16x7.5 WOW! (Im assuming thats the wheel you got?_
Have you seen this site?

Is switching to full synthetic oil at 144K a good idea? I thought it can cause your car to smoke like hell if you have high mileage.
To stay on topic though. Car pushing 145K and I drive it like crazy sometimes. Car still pulls awesome. Intake and Ypipe and I think the engine is thanking me more everyday.
And Spainard that is bad ***. Always wanted to race at Laguna Seca. While the Maxima is no where near the best AutoX car it looks bad *** there.

Sorry to ask, but those SSR (type C) rims run how much for some 17's???(does that include tire and shipping>?) I think they look really tight, almost like the Nismo Rims, I would love if they have them in silver, or aluminum finish, white is cool too.

Actually, I need to update my sig. They are sitting in my room; mostly so I can look at them and take in the shear beauty. I can't post pics on my homepage though because cardomain isn't working well. I'll probably put them on in two weeks. Snow + summer kumho's = going nowhere.
I actually got them for $295/rim. Tirerack fu cked up on my original order. Let me explain. I ordered O.Z. Supperleggeras in anthracite. I called them to place the order because they had been removed from the website. They explained that they were removed because O.Z. stopped producing them in anthracite. I was ****ed but they said they still had 3 in Indianna and one in Ohio. Well the one from Ohio was mismarked. They showed up at my door...the first one I unwrapped was the wrong color. I was like, "**** fu ck." Called up Tirerack. They said I could send 'em back full refund. I said there was nothing else in my pricerange with comprable weight and style. I suggested the SSR's but also added that they were too much $$$. I was speaking with Dexter and he said he could give 'em to me for a little more than cost because of my troubles. Bottom line is I paid $1600 instead of $1800 and I got a 2Ib lighter rim.
