I prefer the "soft" ride. Do i have to change the springs and the shocks? will it make my SE look "lifted"?
thanks for the info

It'd cost too much to change everything..sell your car and go buy a GLE and you'll have money leftover

I believe that the struts are the same. The springs are different. I am sure that you can find a set of GLE springs on here. I would replace the struts (to a tokico blue, AGX, even a GR2) while I was in there, but that is your call.

It will not make you look lifted. GLE and SE suspension is the same height.

Is your SE a 5-speed or auto? That is the onl;y other variable. SE 5-speed to GLE will ride higher due to the tranny weight difference.

So the next time i have to replace my shocks, I should get a set of GLE springs, right?

Yes, but to be honest, it will not be a HUGE difference. Also, if I recall correctly it is only the fronts that are different- but i coudl be mistaken...

I dont think you will be happy if you swap in GLE components.

Your best bet is to get 15 inch wheels and some luxury oriented tires. If you swap your 16s for some 15 inch sawblade rims and some nice 205/65-15 tires, you will be happier than if you went through the trouble of getting GLE springs and shocks. The GLE springs are the SAME. The only parts that are different are the rear shocks.

Good point. And you will likely have no problem finding someone to trade or buy your OEM 16" rims

Also, you may just want to get good struts as opposed to tryig to swap anything out. Some members have found that a good strut (like and AGX) mated with the stock springs offer a great ride. Ask njmaxseltd (Tom) about this.

I knew it was something like that...

Getting some tokico shocks with stock springs will provide a little more rebound damping. This reduces bounce and results in a "smoother" ride.

The taller tires will smooth things out quite a bit. You can also swap out your old sturts for a set of Tokico Blues. They are the smoothest OEM replacement strut you can buy for your Maxima. As your struts wear out, your ride quality goes down. To get your SE riding nice and smooth again change the struts.

KYB products ride very firm so if your looking for that silky ride, don't put KYB struts in.

Tom-

What if you dial the AGXs down to the softest setting on a set of H&Rs? How is that ride compared to tokicos? I have tokicos now, but the car that i am buying has AGXs. I will be using H&R springs again- which struts are better for that?
