need specific help with knock sensor resistor modification...
**ATTN Kevlo/SteVTEC! need specific help with knock sensor resistor modification...
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...3&postcount=42 okie so after i read steve's analysis and i sorta did a test as well. my currenct status is definetly "Knock Sensor bad but still connected". so on my way to ratio shack, i'm driving with 30% throttle or less, my car pulls like normal. but when i open up the throttle more than 30%, i notice a lag (aka retarded ignition timing) and car pulls like sh*t. so the 3rd gear lag (or whatever other gear with 30%+ lag) is now proven.

so according to kevlo, i need a 470 resistor. so i bought that.

so the F121 sensor, which is the nearest connector of from the knock sensor harness is now unplugged. (please confirm me that i unplugged the correct sensor)

this is my hand holding the sensor.
okiee now how do i install the resistor into the F121 sensor? the FAQ was very ambigious about this part. and this is where i need help!

yea i just got back from radio shack with 470K resistor pins
do i stick two 470K resistor pins into the F121 sensor or just one pin?

You just stick one end of the resistor into one side of hte female harness and the other end of the resistor to the other one.

okie the F121 is hooked up with 470K resistor. i just got back from a test drive my third gear still in safe ignition mode. it still retards when i engage more than 30% of throttle. why is that?

If that doesn't work you may have a broken connector. In that case I would get a digital voltmeter and measure to make sure there is voltage on one of the pins. And the other pin should be connected to chassis ground.
