Dual exhaust from custommaxima.com

I am curious what size tubing and which flowmaster muffler was used in this setup? I am doing a custom exhaust and I really like the sound of the flowmaster.

Andrew

Please dont buy that overpriced waste of money.

Get it done at a muffler shop. I have a Flowmaster 80 series muffler and 2.5" piping to the muffler and 2.25" piping to the outlets.

Like Biggie and Jay-Z's song, Brooklyn's Finest.

I got it done behind Shea Stadium at a muffler place. Those guys work good as long as you shop around and watch them.

Could you tell us what the difference between the said "True Duals" and the "Fake ones" is?

i guess he means since the exhaust doesnt flow seperatly from the front bank of the headers and the rear bank of the headers, its not considered a "true dual" setup

I did not plan on buying that "overpriced waste of money". I just wanted to get a similar sound and I didn't know what flowmaster they used. I am getting custom 2.5" bent with either the 80 series or a magnaflow. Thanks for the help.

I thought they used the same design as everyone else uses that splits after the cat. The exhaust that runs from each bank of the headers would be lots of money and would still have problems fitting past the spare tire well.

yea but thats not a true dual, in his opinion at least, and i guess i do sort of agree. on our cars its mostly for the look and sound more than anything else. of course the one that runs from each bank wouldnt work cuz theres no room for it but thats more of a "true" dual system than the ones that split from the cat or from a dual outlet muffler

Obviously

There are very few cars that have true duals anymore other than RWD V8's. The Honda S2000 is a 4 cyl with 2 mufflers but its not a dual exhaust. The only true dual exhausts are like nismos said, one pipe for each bank of mufflers.

Check out the new Maxima, Accord, and pretty much any FWD with a dual exhaust and its not a true dual.

Its for the look and sound, trying to be different. It looks pretty damn good in my opinion and I get compliments all the time.

A true dual system is like the 350Z's. Two downpipes, two cats, two B pipes, and two mufflers.

It does sound really good. People stop me all the time to tell me how good my car sounds. Oh and individual mufflers on a max really hurt the performance!

Im planning to get a flowmaster dual exhaust soon because my stock exhaust is about to fall off. From searching, the muffler used is a Flowmaster 80 Serier 42583 with single 2.5" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet. On one side, the muffler has and inlet and outlet, the other side just has an outlet. Is the inlet just used as an outlet? I was looking online to buy the muffler and I said that it is non-reversable. Can someone clear this up for me?

Sorry I dont have pics of the under carriage. It basically works like this.

One side has an outlet and an inlet and the other just the outlet.

The inlet is where your stock pipe is going to come into the muffler. The outlet next to it is going to wrap around your spare tire well and the outlet on the other side is going to come out the stock position.

*EDIT* **** I just noticed how old this thread was!

When I went to look at a 350Z, it had one muffler with dual outlets on each end of the muffler. Then I realised that this thread was started earlier this year and you probably already knew that

I thought it was set up like this, ironl's dual exhaust , but with a flowmaster muffler. Ant96GLE, you have a 96 so there is no black box in the way for the the driver's side outlet. Anyone know if the black box gets in the way?

Sure about that? I DO have the black box and yes it was in teh way but theres enough room to get the pipe in there. THe only difference was I wrapped the drivers side outlet behind the spare tire well not in front of it like that.
