Gf driving in 2nd gear...
So my gf is driving home by herself and calls me up and asks me why she's going 55 on the highway but the tach is at 6,000. when i realized she was driving in 2nd the whole way, i was flippping. Its not all her fault tho; my shift **** swap wasnt perfect, so the little orange needle stands between D and 2nd. Anyways, will my tranny blow up now? What is the effects of this?

you should be fine. my mom had rented a ford taurus when were in CA and she left OD off. I didn't really notice cause i wasn't driving and the car was quiet, but when I looked over at the cluster. She was doing 80mphs with the tach around 5500rpm. Had been driving like that for about 2 hours, lol.

damn, i'm sure the ride was rocky as hell; your car won't blow up, but i'd be more than mad if my car went through that kind of punishment

Your transmission will be perfectly fine. Driving at high RPM has nothing to do with transmission stress.
I would however suggest never letting her drive drive your car again. Even though nothing likely happened, the ignorance it takes to get into such a situation would be reason enough for me never to let the person in the driver's seat again.
With certain exceptions (my girfriend included) female drivers are a disaster waiting to happen :shudder:

female drivers are a disaster waiting to happen
in the past week I was almost hit by 2 of them!!!!
1.Icy road coming home from school and some lady driving a focus hit the sholder a little then over steered and turned it sideways. after she forced my friend (2001 ford ranger) in the ditch, she was coming sidways in my lane!!!
the funny thing was that the first thing that came to my mind was all the probs. Ive been having with my car and how if I totaled it I would come out at least
2-3k ahead in insurence. (I know bad) But I swerved around her into the other lane and stopped to get my friend out. she pay for the tow truck to get him out of the ditch though
2. going out (1 day later) just before night time, driving in a 4 land road, some
b!tch tries to merge into my lane!!! so I slamed on the breaks felt the ABS kick in (still icy from the day before) and layed on my horn. she just swerved back and kept goin like it nothing happeded.
SOME PEOPE JUST SHOULDN'T DRIVE

My GF asked me to teach her how to drive a stick-shift. My answer was....well there was no answer.
She backed up into my driver's side wheel well a couple of weeks ago and left a good size dent. Blah blah... "my foot slipped off the brakes." That scared me enough.

Doggy-LOL will do man!
Takentothemax-She had a '95 Maxima about 4 years ago and she's not a bad driver at all. She's not the typical "omg my foot slipped off the brake and it wasnt my fault" prissy princess. She's actually a hell of a driver and seen her drive as fast AND careful as they come. Unfortunately, she didnt realize the whole gear thing, which was partially my fault.
I just hope my ride is ok
