Motor Mount Sensor

Does anyone know what the purpose of this is? I'm in the process of filling my motor mounts and wanted to know what the ecu uses this for. Anyone?

It's not a sensor, it's a controller. The motor mount is soft at idle and then stiffens (a little) at something like 1200 rpm.

Interesting. How does it work do you know? If you unscrew the controller, there looks to be possibly a piston or plunger that extrudes into the mount itself. Is that how it stiffens up the mount? If you disconnect it would there be any repercussions? I don't want to leave the controller sitting there in the engine bay just to appease the ecu.
