limo tint: worth the trouble?

I'm thinking about getting limo tint on my Maxima. My Maxima's color is superblack. I just got the whole car repainted a few months ago. My car is in the bodyshop now to fix a hit and run damage. It should look good as new soon though. I also got a full Stillen bodykit and front/rear 97-99 conversion. I don't have any rims yet, but it's lowered with H&R springs. I already have a tint. Right now it's about 50% front and 35% rear. I think a full limo tint would look hot on my car. However, it's definitely illegal. Legal percent here in Louisiana is about what I have now. I don't know if it's worth the trouble though. Would the cops give me a hard time for it? I don't...repeat don't have any rice mods on my car. My car appears to be stock, only Maxima enthusiasts would know it's not. Also, I would have to find a place that would look pass the tint when it's time for inspection. I could do 20%, but that's illegal too. So I might as well go with the limo tint. Thoughts?

Limo tint will be hard to see out of since you're not use to having dark tint. I say 20% up front and 12% in back.

I've had 5% on my last 3 cars. I love limo and I get no hassle from the 5-0.

Yeah, but you live in Arizona. If I live there, I would hesitate to get limo tint.

I think when cops pull people over, it's for something else(like speeding), then they'll cite you for the tint too. I don't think they'll pull someone over just because of the tint. Right?

I don't recall anyone getting pulled over strictly for tint in AZ, but if they do, you can get cited for it.

I have 20% on my car. It's appears to be much darker than it acutally is especially at night and when it rains. And from a certain angle you can't see in at all

I train with the PD in my city, and you will not get pulled over for tint, but if you are speeding, or have something broken on your car, you will get pulled over, and they will then find other things to cite you for ( if you **** them off) Usually we dont say anything unless the person is an A$$ to us.

On my old Mazda MX-6 I had 20% up front and limo in back. I never got in trouble for it but just a few days ago the kid I sold it to got pulled over for it. Stupid michigan tint laws.

My friend got his tint from the same place I got mine, he got pulled over for speeding, they read his tint, 3% So, I have 3% and from EVERY angle you can't see in at all. Unless its brighter in the car then it is outside.

I you want dark get 5% 20% is just as illegal and has the same fine. I'd advise to get one percent tint as well.

The police DO eyeball my car, but they cant pull you over for a non-moving violation, my radar detector saves my a$s all the time.

I have 20% all around in NJ. I got pulled over once FOR the tints (not for something else), and promptly got a ticket for the tints. Tip to all NJ people, Bogota Police dont play around, avoid them at all costs.

I'd say 20-25% would generally look better, limo IMO is a little ghetto unless you live in a very sunny, hot state.

I had 20% tint before, and it wasn't dark enough for me. Never had problems with the cops back then. I switched because I wanted to try the Platinum tint(what I got now). Even though Louisiana isn't as hot as Arizona, it still gets pretty hot down here in the summer time.

Any of you had problems when it come time for inspection? I don't know if other states check this, but here in Louisiana, they do.

Having dark tint is a cop magnet in some states especially the states with high crime rate. The cops are scare to walk up to a car with dark tint and don't know what to expect. So watch out with the limo tint but it sure looks GOOD!

Cumalot, I live in Louisiana, too. I also worked for a larger city PD here. Rear tint limit is 25%, and front side windows is 35-40% (I'd have to double check the view inward/outward law for the fronts). You can easily get pulled over for just tint. No moving violation is necessary in Louisiana for a traffic stop. Most cops here don't carry tint meters, so you can usually get away with something close to the limit. If your tint is close to the legal limit, the only time you should have a problem would be during an inspection.
Personally, I would stay away from limo tint. I have 25% on my rears, and I have trouble seeing to the rear on dark nights. But I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Y2KSESteve, Did you paint your se's or is that brake dust. Either way it looks pretty cool. Nice and matching. A really dark tint is the same fine as 20% but the earlier does draw a lot more attention. Especially on a tan interior car. My 20% looks more like 30% because of the reflection tendancy that leather has and its tan color.

My friend has 5% all around, and 45% on the front windshield.. I would NEVER get limo tint, because you cant see a damn thing and it gets your eyes very tired if you drive at night a lot.

Tyler, the highest film made is 65%(I think) because it comes stock with about that much in it anyways. If there was a 70% it would be totally pointless. I know your trying to go for the totally blacked out look but any tint on windsheild is rediculous for night/bad weather visibility.
