SE Springs

I recently bought some used '96 SE springs and I need to know what the paint codes on the springs mean. The 2 front springs have 3 different colored "dots" on them. Both of the rears are the same. Does one spring get installed on one side instead of the other? The reason I ask is I am going to get these powder coated, and I don't want to get them mixed up if there is a difference. Also, how do you tell the difference between SE and GLE/GXE springs?

Sorry, I know this has probably been asked a million times...

Thanks

The rear springs are the same and it doesn't matter what side you put them on. The fronts though are different. The front strut upper seats are specific to each side and the spring has to line up properly inside of it. The Haynes manual explains this with pictures. I would recommend getting a manual. As for telling if they're SE or not, according to my 95 FSM, the SE springs, front and rear, should be 12.20 inches tall with no load on them. Good luck.

In theory, when installing the fronts wouldn't it be evident they were not being installed correctly because they weren't seating properly?

The front springs measure about 12 inches, but the rears measure about 15.5 inches... Also, one of the front springs has blue, grey, and yellow "dots" painted on it. The other has blue, grey, and blue "dots" painted on it. 3 "dots" total per spring.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between SE and GLE/GXE springs?
