The estimate on my car from a guy rear ending me is unbelieveable. On the good side, the dealership is requesting my hood be repaired, and painted (it's dented ever so slightly on the left side, so it rises up about 1/4 inch higher than it's suppose to) .. Instead of spending the $500-750 on repairs & repainting, I figure I might jsut grab a new hood instead. I'm not too keen on the durability of the CF in an accident, but I like the fact that it's lighter & doesn't chip (or so I'm told .. is this true?) .. Do these suckers exist for the maxima? If so, where can I get them from -- I couldn't find a dealership in search, just a lot of chatter about em.

The word in the racing world is that carbon fiber is 7 times stronger than steel, so it should be OK. Maybe some finite element analysis experts can post some details on the tensile strength.
