y-pipe just installed...reset ECU??

Hey,
I just got my y-pipe installed yesterday...warpspeed GD- thanks Budha! Anyways, the guy who put it on said I didn't have to reset my ECU cause I didn't get a check engine light. Is this true, or do I want to reset it anyways. Also, I'm assuming the only way to reset the ECU is to disconnect the batteries positive which sucks cause then i gotta reprogram all my sterio stuff. any other way to reset the ECU?
thanks!

it wouldnt hurt anything to reset your ECU. I however never rest mine and it adjusted in a few days to the y-pipe. My first drive i didnt feel any added power, then a few days later, I was driving on the freeway, dropped it to third, and WHOA!!!!

anyways, if you want to reset the ECU, get a flathead screwdriver.

Reach down to your ECU (under the dash, almost on the floor, to the right of the gas pedal)

youll see one screw on there, do as follows:

with the ignition on (not running) turn all the way to the right until it stops (dont force it)
hold 1 sec

turn all the way to the left
hold 1 sec

turn to the right

RESET ECU!!!!

Ahh, so you reset it just like when you're checking/reseting your check engine light. sweet! thanks! I've done that a million times cause i had that light on for about 14 months till i finally got it fixed...dont worry, i knew the problem and it wasnt dangerous or harmful to anyone
