I know there was a big spacer between the intake matifold and block in testing somewhere. What happened to that thing?

 

I remember reading that the stock gasket did a good enough job cooling the manifold that they discontinued research, I may be wrong though.

I know the same people were also working on some sort of throttle body spacer as well, but I have no idea what became of that project.

 

My intake matifold is freaken hot, so obviously the spacer kind of sucks. How come 5th gen matifolds don't get as hot?
