I know a strut bar is a strut bar, but I think that eBay ones look very cheap. Is there anyone on the .org that sells them for a reasonable price, or should I trust eBay?

does FSTB makes diffrence at all??? i had one before on previous car (below on my signature) but hmm couldnt feel any diffrence/....

 

made a heck of a difference on mine, installed it 2 nights ago, i can whip the heck out of it now, quick turns with MUCH less body roll, i twas the ebay FSTB isntalled it on my 95 GLE, no fitment issues from seller Evovector, i initially thought i twas in my head, but i tested it out on onramps on S curves and it i dindt get pushed into my seat like i usually do. then had my friend testdrive it because he claimed it had much more body roll than his 3.2TL type S, he was pretty amazed that a $20 bar made so much difference in handling. i give it

 

I think I'm going to say... YMMV. Normal street driving you will notice a slight difference ONLY on tight turns. Slightly less body roll. Rainy days, your car dramatically handles different. Only way to really see if it works is to go do autox which I haven't tried.

If you want a cheap/cosmetic solution the ebay bar is not a bad investment. I think the more expensive ones should be sturdier and thereby making it even better. But hey... it's just a bar

 

First of all, the ebay ones are fine. I got mine for like $16.50 from Revotec.

Second, they don't make a really huge difference. They do, however, change it a little.

Third, they don't correct body roll fellas! What the FSTB does is stop the struts from traveling in any direction other than up and down to absorb bumps. This just steadies the front end...which helps in our maximas that seek side to side while turning at WOT. It doesn't help body roll.....that is a rear sway bar. It just keeps the struts from going side to side(thus the name).

I actually replaced my strut bar with a midget inside.

I never used a strut bar, are they easy to install or do I need to take it to a shop?

Can you change a tire? If so, you can install a FSTB. Same level of difficulity. A torque wrench is nice, but not necessary.

 

why is a torque wrench not necessary?aren't the bolts in danger of ripping if you dont apply the correct torque of 30 ft lbs? id just go with the torque wrench, autozone lets you rent it out for free just leave a deposit, so id just go with that to be ont he safe side

 

FSTB is just a chunk of metal, no matter how you look at it. Cattmans "titanium" FSTB is nothing more than eye candy compared to what you can get on Ebay. As long as the bar is sturdy (and they all seem to be) it doesn't matter which one you get, unless you have a show car, or need the satisfaction of knowing you have a "cool" looking FSTB under your hood.

Your suppose to torque your lug nuts to a specified amount also, but that rarely happens outside a shop. You can feel the tension if you are good, within a few ft lbs. Like I said, a torque wrench is nice but not necessary. As long as you don't force it or have a 450 lb bench press, it'll work.

 

be careful not to get a wrench that is too long. It is really easy to exert too much torque with a long wrench. I mean, that is how a torque wrench works so easily............it is long. You don't even have to pull all that hard because you have all that torque.

 

I have mine from ebay, its not that bad. I don't think you should spend 180 bucks on FSTB. So i went with this one on ebay.
