I was told that if a car had been using regular oil then you can not change it to synthetic? Is this true? I just got an oil change and put in Mobil 1 so if you can not switch then I think I'm in trouble. Please tell me what you think.... Also what type of auto - transmission fluid should I use - It's time for my 60k mile maintaince! What should I get done?

Changing to Synthetic oil should not cause any problems. When I first got my car I knew nothing about the kind of oil that was used in it, so I put in regular "dino" oil. A few changes later I decided to switch to Mobil 1 synthetic and I've had no problems at all.

I also put Mobil 1 in with no problems....As for gear oil, use Redline MT-90. Its the best.
