My car doesnt really have a smell on the inside, which I guess is a good thing. Snice my car is 8 years old (108k miles), I was thinking of getting new leather covers like from leatherseats.com because my current seats are showing wear. My question to those who have bought one of these kits is did it create a strong scent of leather that overpowered any previous scents?

thanks

When I purchased my max (used) the guy left an ozone air purifier in the car overnight before I picked it up. It gave the car the "new car" smell, which lasted a month or two. It was very cool. I'm thinking of going back to have it done again.

I haven't redone the leather, but I'd imagine you'll probably get a leather smell. Not necesarilly a 'new car smell'. Part of that smell is the new plastics, carpet and freshly applied adhesives.

Do you clean and condition your leather regularly? Mine has the worn-in look, but it is still good, and smells good...because I condition it often. It is just like anything leather that you wear, you have to take really good care of it for it to last. LIke shoes, they last better if you condition or polish them at least every once in a while.

Go to Walmart and get some Meguire's Leather conditioner. This stuff is awesome, and makes your leather feel so soft. Plus, it gives it that nice new leather scent. If this still is not to your satisfaction, you could always try this air freshner I used to use. I got it a walmart and it is just called "New Car Scent". I would warn you though, it is red and can stain lighter carpets if applied too much. It smells just like new cars though. I used to spray it under the carpets. You caould try it out and see.

wope, when you said, "does it bring back that new car smell?," did you mean you wanted it to come back or not?

I don't mind if it does come back..also I used to condition my leather religiously but I read that since are seats aren't "real" leather, they wouldn't benefit from it?

What do you mean that the seats aren't real leather? Either they are or they aren't, no?
