Just ordered the MEVI!!!

Im way excited!... the Max is about to be a N/A powerhosse in a few weeks (after the new clutch is installed and broken in!)

So Im wondering - Can anyone help me out with any advice on the process of getting the other parts- Any updates or new information on what I will need for the install?

I hear I will need (from the Crannman's site

1) Time - like 1 maybe 2 days
2) ThreadLock (the strongest [blue?] stuff) for the internal screws holding the butterfly flaps
3) Vaccuum cannister (NAPA part #730-1607)
4) Vacuum Check Valve, Pep Boys, "Help" parts section
5) EVAP Purge Control Valve hose adapter.
6) Switched Relay (Radio Shack 30AMP Relay)
7) Vacuum Hoses
8) MAP/Baro Switch (Vacuum Solenoid) from a Nissan (Pulsar, 3rd Gen. Maxima)
or Dawes Dual Stage Control Solenoids...

And I heard that its better to go with a Summit RPM switch...

Thanks anyone who has done this and any lessons learned..

I think the red loctite is stronger

If you buy a NAPA vac can, it comes with a internal cehck valve so no need for an external one

Thanks... you know, I am a newbie to complex installation stuff... I dont know what most of this stuff is meant to do even!
What does the vacuum check valve do? Only lets air move in 1 direction I suppose? Or does it indicate if a vaccuum exists in the cannister? Augh!

PM turbo95max (matthel) if you need help installing anything.
you can also PM need4speed (robert) if you have any question regarding MEVI. he was the first one who dyno with us that day with 99 SE-L who installed MEVI himself. both of them are from norcal.

and lastly...i heard you need a harlan switch to activate the MEVI, which courtesy nissan does not include.

Nice setup, Hey if you don't mind, can you take your car to the track after you install it, and post the results. I like to know if it really makes a huge difference. thank you.
(you are good driver) you need to buy a another maixma..... One for race, one for everyday drive....

You don't need the dawes solenoid. I'm not sure what those cost but you can pull a solenoid off a car at a junkyard for like $5.

I think some of the instruction pages have pictures of them. I used to have one on my site but it looks like I took it off.

On the passenger side of the manifold there's 3 or 4 of them all connected in series.

To clarify what you are looking at there, it will have a 2 wires, a power and a ground, and generally 2 vacuum lines going into it, with the 3rd nipple venting into the atmosphere. You can find them on just about any car made within the last 25 years. They are found generally in the area of the intake and intake manifold as they are used to operate vacuum activated items (such as MEVIs ). I know lots of guys have gotten them off older Maxs and sentras and such, Cavaliers, etc. I got mine off a Mazda MX3. You can find them on anything.
