OEM leather upgrade

I'm thinking about switching my cloth interior to OEM leather and I was wondering if it's really worth it. The price is pretty good, but I never had leather in my cars so I just don't know. For the people who have switched to leather (not aftermarket), would you say it's worth it? And is it hard to install the seats? Thanks for the input.

i love my leather. if it's pretty cheap, do it. it's worth it cuz cloth gets all stained and worn, but leather lasts a lot longer. only thing is if you get the leather smellin, it's hard to get the smell out. if you're a non-smoker and keep your car in good shape, i'm tellin you, it's worth it. and no, it's not hard to install oem or any seats. i got two max's and i definitely love the one with leather a lot more.

I guess you could say that I went from cloth to leather, my old car had cloth and the Max has leather and I will never buy a car with cloth again, it's far better...

IMO, leather gives it a luxury feel, but i dont like the fact that it gets hot as hell in the summer and cold as hell in the winter (unless u have heated seats.) If you want to upgrade, ebay sometimes have auctions, or check your local junkyard. You can also check out the group deal for the two tone leatherseats.

yeah that's what my thing is --- the cold and the hot issue. what's a good price for a used leather interior (doors and seats)?

I used to work for a dealer in used cars. To get most of the funk smell out of cars, we would turn car on and run heater on high. Set it to defrost and let it sit til the car interior was hot. Then we would use a damp rag to wipe down the interior. The heat makes the leather's pores open up and the rag lets you remove the impurities. I have done it and car smells fresher. You can follow up with good-smelling leather treater.

Also, you can put dryer sheets (Bounce or any brand) under your seat. The smell of the sheet will permeate the interior.

Or, you can spray your cologne in the car, that way the car smells good, and it smells like you... chicks dig to smell the cologne that you wear... Just don't overdo it.

Here's a trick I learned from a guy that used to work for a car rental place. To get out funky/smoke odors, take an apple and cut it in half. Place one half under each front seat. Leave them from 1-4 weeks and then throw them away. The apple will absorb the odor.
