**HOW TO**Pics of MY White/blue LED interior **HOW TO**

hey guys,

I got some help from JackBauer on how to get the hazards and rear defroster leds done. He recently posted his blue led interior. Thanks dude for the help.

I also changed my manual climate control LED's also. Writeup coming up shortly for that one but I made the hazard/defrost one already. linky on the bottom. aim/pm me with any questions/errors. All the leds are white cept for the blue leds underneath the picture buttons.

The guage bulbs are identical I believe to the bulbs behind teh climate control in the 98-99. Just replace the bulbs with LED's w/ resistors and you will not have to dremel the holes to make em bigger.(which I did already =\ so i cannot try this out) If anyone wants to test it out to see if it works, send me a pm/im and I can guide you through on how to connect the leds with resistors to put in the housing.

Found some errors: From your write up. "Notice the two prongs. The top prong is the negative and the bottom prong is the negative. They're the same with each switch. You will need to match the connections to your LED's." Both negative?
And the sellers name is cwithk.

Just trying to help.

The pictures are making a light (or LED) go off in my head. Nice write up.

Your welcome....Oh I have a really good question? What happens when you use the dimmer switch? Do the LEDs dim or just go out?

And to all the LED fans... anyone tried an LED plate light or trunk light?

The LEDs hooked up to my dimmer switch actually dim as they would with the regular bulbs. You could easily do the Trunk or Plate light, you just gotta cut the stock bulb off and hook the LED up to the stock wires with a resistor.

Use flux

Nice writeup! Thanks!

Just one recommendation. Where you said, "Solder does not really stick the copper prongs so we'll have to put solder on the prongs before putting the LEDs on."
-------

I would recommend anyone that attempts this to dip the copper leads in some flux so the solder will stick and flow smoothly. Makes "tinning" a lot easier as well.

You can get the paste flux at Radioshack or the liquid one in the tube. I highly recommend the round tin of the paste.

Where can you get all the bulbs to do this? Just any old hardware store or something? And how do you crack into the dash like that. I would LOVE to do a mod like that!

New writeup

Hey guys,

I've taken another hour to put another writeup for all those who have a manual climate control instead of an autoclimate and wish to change their lights. Here's a writeup to change the bulbs inside your manual climate control assembly. Thanks for all the great feedback and to Will(jackbauer) for helping me. Going to be doing the dome/map/courtesy lights next.

Cool, I'll add that in also to help with the sticking of the solder onto the copper. I have flux myself but after a couple of trys with the solder, it eventually stuck. oh yea, new writeup for the manual climate controls

Dude, both of your write-ups are for manual climate controls. The pictures all look the same, nothing like my auto climate.

There's already a writeup for auto climate control so this one is for us less fortunate max owners with the manual climate control.

Also, another way, I found easier when working with soldering projects....wrap 22-18 gauge wiring around the copper contacts and the solder will then stick and hold a little better. Yes, paste flux work just as well, too.

Looks nice. Nice that the dimmer works also.

Do a write up for the dome and map lights as well.

Before you start installing the LEDs. I used a fine grit sand paper 1000grit to roughly sand all the leds so the light will not seem blotchy at times and help disperse the light.

ok im an idiot answered my own question goin to try this out

Why would you want your dash to be that bright?
That is distracting and annoying.

I do like the color blue you chose though.

weird how my old thread was resurrected. The pictures are actually brighter than the gauges/dash in RL. I took those pictures at night also.
