Does you auto tranny do that???

I just noticed this because i put my intake back in and i can hear it...

When i accelerate in 3rd gear (D with o/d off) and my RPM's reach 3200 it drops back to 3000 and then it keeps on moving normally...the car is still accelerating but it drops 200rpm's for some reason...
It sucks because with the intake in, it sounds like the car is sick or something...

I have a brand new tranny from the dealer(about 2K on it) . . .

Can someone test their tranny and tell me if it does the same thing??

Thanks,
Sam

It's not a matter of opinion, it's what has been talked about in the past. When you accelerate, there seems to be a little dip in the power (around 3000rpm's) which seems to be some kind of switchover. My car does it.

my 88 auto tranny had issues dealing with the od. I don't know why, but we never could get everything figured out.

Keep the light off.

In third your car will be slower with the light on, this is true for any auto 4th gen max.

To test this try this - get going about 60mph with the orange light on (o/d off). Now press the gas petal a little further so that your car will not shift up when you turn the light off, at any point now you can click the o/d button so that it turns the orange light off, you will notice your car will stay in the same gear but the RPM's will jump up about 200 and your car will pull much better.

You never want that light on unless you are going up a steap hill, other wise leave it off and your car will be faster. It does not effect the car until about 55-60 mph, then having the light on will cause your RPM's to dip, just leave the light off.

There is nothing wrong with your car

mine does that to, its so wierd. When I try messing with people on the highway I just have it in third at about 3500-4000rpms just above that little dip in rpms. Even tho its eating gas for crusing at high rpms its so cool that I can just tap the accelerator and literally leap ahead.

Do you have the light on? You will be way faster if you turn it off. Try the test I put in above.

At 60mph turn the light on so that it down shifts into third, punch it for a little while, now turn the light off and your car will pull way better.
