2000 coils in a 99 Max?

Will the ignition coil packs from a 2000 Maxima work properly in a 99 Maxima?

That's what I was thinking, but I noticed that the part numbers are different. The 2000 model uses 22448-2Y005 or 2Y006 and 22448-2Y000 or 2Y001. I'm concerned that the connections or the lengths might be different and render them incompatable.

Any thoughts? If 2000 coils are ok, I can get them on ebay for $180... which would be very nice...

I would also speculate that it would fit, but I don't know since the part numbers are different.

Call a dealership give them your VIN and the part number off ebay and ask if they'll work. Obviously don't tell them you want to buy them off of ebay. Just tell them you already bought them but noticed the part # was different than what you thought you should have gotten.

It's a VQ30DE-K for 2000-2001 models

Well, I just talked to the dealership. They say that the 99 and 2000 engines are very similiar, but there are enough differences for the coil packs to be incompatible. Looks like I'm hunting for 99's...

Slammed95 (95 Maxima) tried Irvine78 (00 Maxima) coils on the 95 and they worked with no problem.

To answer your question - NO

I am 100% positive that they won't fit. First off, 2000 coils have an entirely different part #. Second, 2000 coils cost about $40/coil whereas 4th gen coils go for about $75/coil (I'm talking dealer prices here without any discounts). That alone tells you they won't fit because ppl would be getting the 2000 coils for their 4th gen instead of the 4th gen coils.

Also, I called a few dealers once and asked - they also said no. I know, you probably searched ebay and found the coils I see now for a 2000 Maxima. Well, don't buy them. Wait god damn it! Be patient, check ebay daily and like I told others, the 4th gen coils will come! ...and when it happens, they'll go for approx. $200 for all 6 coils

Well that's interesting. When you say tried, are you saying that he installed and ran with them for several weeks? Or that he put one in and nothing blew up...

Were there any problems with the fit?

Why not tell them you want to buy coils off of ebay? Whenever I call a dealership I am a total A$$. I treat dealerships the same way they treat MOST people, which is like ****.

ANyway, if you call a dealership and ask for parts, IT IS THEIR DUTY to let you know a specific part number for your vehicle, if you only desire so, even if you specifically state that you're not going to buy from them, but ebay

He used them to diagnose a problem he had. He started and rand the car. WTF? why would something blow up? It's just a coil, not C4 explosive.
