changing to ss braided brake lines?

hey im in the middle of changing my brake lines to ss braided lines. the rear passenger side went well, but my rear driver side is stuck to crap. it won't even budge. has this happend to anybody, and do you guys have any ideas? tomorrow we may try drilling off the old line while hopefully not damaging the thread on the part we need to attach the new line too. please help? tia~

first use wd-40.

when i changed my ss brake lines i had a similar issue with the fronts. you need to use two wrenches (one for bottom bolt one for upper bolt i think they're different sizes) then use plenty of torque by trying to push the two wrenches toward one another slowly so not to damage the thread or bolt head. then use one to old and the second to turn and take off the brake line. don't forget to connect the brakelines to the struts with the metal connectors (i forgot one and got rattle)

ps since you're upgrading your brakes u might consider getting speedbleeders if you haven't heard of them yet. great product and a relatively cheap upgrade.

yes, i used wd-40, plenty of it. the 10mm nut is beginning to get rounded.... so i am getting kind of scared. the unit just won't budge. the rear passenger side was so easy but the driver side rear just won't budge. i guess i'll try a lil more wd-40. i was actually contemplating replacing the metal brake line.... but looking at it, it looks like it runs pretty far towards the front of the car.

Use better penetrating oil, e.g. PB Blaster (Pepboys) and give the oil more time to work its magic. Also, don't forget to use a flare wrench (Cratfsman).

RE; brake lines

Use hefty size Vice grips and twist it like hell !!!!
here is the deal - SS lines are very easy to install if you: have good quality Vice-grips and PB rust blaster or WD-40 will do, the 10mm nut should come off really easy in rear , but the fronts have some kind of lock-tie on them and thats where the Vice -grips comes handy - most likely you will round off the front 10 mm nut even if you try to use 10mm flare nut wrench. - Trust them Vice -grips to save your day !!!

also spending $40 on set of speedbleaders makes the brake bleeding pure pleasure !!!

buy at leat 3 bottles of brake fluid and don't let the master cylinder run dry.

ya, i actually got the rear ones off. i just struggled with the front ones just now, and both of them don't seem to be budging. what kind of vice grips do you recommend, and from where?

use two - one for the 10mm nut and one for the metal part of the brake like - spray PB or WD-40 , wait few minutes and than turn like there is no t-morrow - You might end up stripping the nut but once the lines are installed they will stay with the car.

any vice grips will do - just not the 2.99 cheapo ones

do i really need two? because if u leave that Uclip in... you should be able just to turn the top 10mm nut, and the metal part of the brake like should not turn? at least that's what i did for the rear. i guess removing the clip and using two vice grips may give a little more space to work with though. okay, thanks for the advice nick.

i got them in a group deal A LONGGGGG time ago when automax i think was selling them. they are made by technofit or technafit, i don't remember, but they look nice, and fit well. Oh NICK, thanks for the pointer, the vice grips worked great. i jus finished installing...... ss braided lines all around, rear brembo rotors, rear raybestos pads, and rear calipers (kind of a hassle because the one of the first calipers i got was defective, so i had to go back and trade it, which was after in installed it and found out that brake fluid was leaking out of the parking brake connection) ANYWAY, i'll take it for a test drive tomorrow morning, and hopefully it works.
