Eyelids question...

I've been wanting to get a set of eyelids from Custommaxima, but my neighbor who works on cars said it may not be a good idea because you have to sand off the top nipple on the headlight housing. He said these nubs are on the housing in order to aim the headlights and shaving one off could cause problems for aiming the lights in the future. What you you folks think? Any input about this is welcome.

Those have nothing to do with aiming your headlights, the aiming screws on the rear of the headlight assembly.

actually those are for aiming, some aiming devices latch on to them but since none of us own one of those machines, we dont need them so sand them off.

Thanks, guys. Right about those things being aiming devices. They are meant for a certain device to grab hold of by suction in order to mechanically aim the headlights. I was wondering, however, if they were used much by any mechanic for aiming nowadays. I guess the answer is to do the eyelids. Nismo, how did you sand your nubs off? Silly question, but I want to do it carefully and correctly. Since you have the lids on (very nice, BTW) I figured I could ask this bit of advice.

I used a dremel with a sanding drum attachment. dont worry about using them for aiming anymore since there are easier methods for aiming using just a wrench, tape measure, and a wall.
