Locking or Non Locking DIff

Hello All,

I'm in search for a new tranny for my max.

I think I may have found a new tranny for it, but the guys need to know wheater the max has a locking or non-locking differential.

I'm not too sure, and was wondering if anyone knew.

thanks

If you can get a locking, I'd do it. You'll need a new driver's side axle, but it's worth the extra $$, IMO.

non of the gen 4's came with LSD, only the I30's. LSD stands for limited slip differential.

I'd like to seek clarification on this. Cars.com says the SE-L has an LSD. Is this a mistake, or are they referring to the Canadian model only?

Are all these trannys coming from Canada and I30's? Here's a link to an LSD thread:

This link from http://maxmods.dyndns.org seems to confirm what you guys are saying, that you can only find the LSD on I30's and Canadian Maximas.

Very interesting information. I'm the one that wrote the maxmods info, but for all I know, I could be wrong. I never actually tested my SE-L.

Anyone out there want to put their SE-L on stands and test it?

why go through all the trouble of doing that. Assuming that the 99's use the same type of tranny code, just check the metal plate on the fire wall that has the tranny code. If it ends in V then it is locking if it ends in A it's non locking.
