Camaros and Mustangs?

So I read all these threads about Maximas beating Camaros/Mustangs in a race. How is this possible? I hear a lot more about these 2 cars in regards to being fast and winning races. I haven't heard anything about Maximas really being that fast, unless you throw in a turbo or two. Just wondering if anybody has the specs of all these cars to compare?

Thanks

My stock 94 Z28 (275hp/325tq) auto went 14.2@97mph. My Maxima with some bolt-ons is within .2 seconds and actually goes faster through the 1/4 mile than my stock Z28 did. The only real reason my Maxima is fractionally slower is because it can't get off the line as hard. From any sort of rolling race, I think my Maxima would have slowly walked my Z28 especially above 80mph.

At the track, I've beaten quite a few 99+ Mustang GTs (260hp) and LT1 F-Bodies. A lot of the time it has to do with the Mustang/Camaro owner not being able to get off the line quick enough due to wheel spin. My car does 14.4-14.5@97mph+ fairly consistently which is pretty close to what guys are doing in their stock and mostly stock 99+ Mustangs and LT1 F-Bodies at my track. I plan on running low 14s once I get my drag radials.

The reason 4th gen Maximas can be so quick is because they make strong torque and good HP. With the right bolt-on NA mods, it's pretty easy to gain ~40fwhp/tq overall. The 4th gen is also extremely light, weighing in at ~2950-3020lbs. With little fuel, no spare, and other simple weight reduction tweaks, it's easy to get a 4th gen down to ~2900lbs at the track.
