A/t Problems Help!!!

I have a 99' maxima Se with 46,700 miles and started having trans problems last
nov on my way home in a big snow storm when i got home my car barely drove in the garage, like i had a flat tire, then the od light blinked at me. (pulled the code and it was solenoid low line pressure) So i let it set for a couple hours and it worked fine. So i let it go well about a month later i noticed it would rev a little (like 300rpms when it shifted from 3rd to 4th) and then went down like normal and it works like normal but it only did that after it was driven at least 10 miles (when it was warmed up). So other org members recommended a overhaul.
A well reputable trans shop pressure tested my third gear clutches because it would rev slightly before switching to fourth, and would not do it if i had od off. So they overhauled it and replaced everything And they raised the pressure a bit and put in a shift kit so i don't think that it is a pressure problem because it shifts firmer and faster. Now after they replaced everything in the trans and it still did it today after i got it back?? Do any of you guys know what would be wrong with it? Drop res or something simple maybe? All i know is im now out 1500.00 Any input would be greatly appreciated.

first of all if you just paid 1500 dollars less than 12 months ago, take it back to them and have them do it again. ANY reputable shop SHOULD gaurentee new parts for 12 months.

if all you had was a solenoid pressure leak, it is my opinion that you only replace that solenoid. jeremysride2000 had a solenoid pressure leak and he bought a vb that had new solenoids and we installed it and it works fine now.

who did the work? what type of shift kit are you talking about?

if your drop resistor failed(unlikely since its nothing more than a small spring) it would be like you were getting kicked in the kidneys every time you shifted, as it would shift with full line pressure.

short story long: dont worry about what is wrong, let them figure it out, especially since ive never heard of any "shift kits" for the nissan maxima other than the recaliberated valve body.

good luck

I got it rebuilt, and it was a month ago they are still trying to figure it out, and a whole new tranny was 2600.00 plus installation from the dealership this was half of the amount, and the reason for the rebuild they said it would need new clutches in 3rd gear from the slipping and just as well overhaul the whole thing since they had to take it out and apart. Do you think that the throttle position sensor has anything to do with it? maybe it is bad? I haven't had any other codes yet but??

shouldn't you still be under your 5year/60000mile powertrain warranty?

its my understanding that any slipping is due to a loss in pressure as it is pressure that operates an auto tranny.

with mine the heat cooked my seals and caused the pressure to leak through these seals back into the tranny.

you dont have to worry except about the fact that your tranny shop isnt good/reputable enough to get it fixed.

good luck

No i went to the dealership (stealership) right away and they read the codes and told me it was out of warranty last oct. because it is a 99" it was made in 98" and they go from that year. And they said replace either the solenoids at 725.00 with labor :0( And if that didn't work then a new tranny which i was quoted 2600.00 plus labor :0( :0( So i went to the most reputable tran shop in town, they been in business since like 76' and have there on series of racing at out local track and have heard alot of good stuff about them so? Oh yeah they have a dyno for the transmissions to. So it makes me wonder if it is not something electronic.
I tested my tps this morning after driving home 15 miles from work and it tested 4.38 open and .637 closed and those were consistant. are they off? maybe enough to throw anything out of wack? I noticed it has only reved after shifting to 4rth once since i got it back from the trans place last tuesday. could stuff be breaking in yet? sometimes when slowing down from speed like doing 65 to a stop i notice my tach kind of bobs once in a while to (around idle). And when doing 75 it usually revs @2600 rpms (used to anyway) right away, now it takes like 4 miles to do it, sometimes when i throttle it a little it goes down then. But it sure does shift faster and firmer than the original. ;0) I was hoping it would be this to fix my troubles but? Is there any other sensor that would reek havoc to the above problems mentioned? Kind alot of info listed above but i hope it will help ya. Thank You!!
