Dang sloppy shifting, would a STS and bushings help?

Last night I came up behind an M3, actually going about 100, needless to say we had a little go. My idea was to shift from 3rd to 4th but ended up in 2nd with the revs at about 7500, kinda soiled myself for a split second then in went the clutch, anyway this made me want to do something about the shifter, its pretty dang soppy in my openion and was wondering if a short throw shifter would fix this. thanks

If you are having trouble telling between 2nd and 4th, a STS would only exaggerate this problem. It makes the stuff closer together and "shorter" and therefore, you must know exactly where you are putting the shifter.

I think you should just practice and drive a lot more.
