95 Maxima security (ignition cutoff).

My 95 Maxima GLE started having this problem about a month ago. Sometimes when I try to start it after having locked it with the key, it won't turn over. Usually I just had to get out of the vehicle, lock it, and unlock it again - and then it would start fine.

Now that's not working either. I want to know if it's a viable/possible solution to simply disable the security system. Under the hood I have a 7.5A fuse labeled security and a black relay in the relay box labeled security/ignition.

I have tried pulling one or both of these items. It didn't help. I have tried disconnecting the battery overnight.

Is there anything else I can try before taking it to a dealer?

Thanks.

I know there is an inhibitor relay that is associated with the security system. I guess the inhibitor relay coil is energized only when the security system allows current to pass through it. If this inhibitor relay is not activated the starter will not receive any current. You could theoretically bypass the security system but I dont know if it affects other systems (like fuel).

Theoretically

I am looking at a black relay with 5 terminals that has the following diagram on the top:

Also, in the seat/harness for the relay there is no corresponding female plug for male terminal #5 on the relay. That is to say, only 1-4 actually go anywhere.

I have tried replacing this relay. I have tried pulling this relay.

Any thoughts?
