Projectors Update

Sorry guys, it's just not going to happen this year.

We've tried all our suppliers, all our bulb manufacturers, all our projector suppliers, and we can't bring the project into the $$$ figure that you guys want.

We're coming in with $500+ on everything we've looked at and that's selling 50 units minimum, we'd barely break even.

So, it's not from lack of trying that we are backing out of this.

After it took months to even get an answer from you I didn't expect much out of you guys. Personally I think it's a bail out because at first you said it couldn't be done.... IT HAS, now you say it's not financially enough of a profit for you? THANKS ALOT. Way to think of yourselves before the community.

Stringztoo - we expected replies like yours.

I talked it over with my partner. Sorry, life isn't about "for the good of the community". It just isn't.

It may be for the good of two or three users that lent their strength of conviction to the project, but the overall community has no relevance.

I'd do this only to please Anish. And no one else, he deserves a lot of credit and to this day has not backed out.

But you know, food has to get put onto the table and for having spent close to 40 hours on this already, and not had $1 to show for it, it's time to look at other projects and revisit this when our expertise and supplier channels are more wide spread.

So, I suppose we gain no bonus points for ending this politely. We should have done what other companies do, string people along, take their deposits, etc.

Sorry, no. We don't do that.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the update and thanks to you and Umnitza for trying. When I approached you guys after seeing Nathan's 2k2 Angel eyes (in Toronto) I knew that if anyone could do this for us, it would be you. I also realize that you would rather not make a product than make a half-a$$ed one. I applaud you for taking the time and guys, if you really think about it, Umnitza did think about us in making the no-go decision. How many people want to lay down well over $500US just for the headlight housings?? Most of the replies to the GD thread were along the lines of "if the cost can be brought down I'm in" and with replies like that we would be nowhere near 50 people even if they did come out.

Matt, if there is any hope in the future, please keep us updated, as I am sure you are aware there is a lot of interest for this on this forum. You are making a unique product with top-notch quality that cannot be matched. That is my firm opinion and I am sticking to it!

Anish

I understand you had no money to show for your R&D, so you could either ask for a $50 deposit and get your funds that way, or be like other companies and see that your hard work and long hours are always the building blocks to a nice big fat payday. You saw that MANY people were interested in this, regardless of the $500. Hell, I'm spending $400 on my D2S HID projector kit alone! The housings were what I needed! It's not like you didn't have people waiting in line with the money in their hands...

We thought that since amateurs have done this mod many times, that you, (the pros), could definetly do this mod and even do it more aesthetically pleasing. I still don't understand why you couldn't do it. It can fit and has been done before. You, being the pros with the expertise, should be able to do it even faster and better. I feel let down by you.

Sorry, no. We don't do that.
At least then you would have had the money in your hands that you say you deserved...

That's the dumbest statement I've heard on Maxima.org

How the hell do you think buisness's are run? They operate on earnings, profit, income. Why should someone manufactor projectors and lose money on the deal. Go sit in the corner.

Thanks for at least giving it a shot. And thanks for having the courtesy to let us know so those who wish can persue other options.

laws of supply and demand.

There is a humungus supply of Hondas and they are interchangeable in parts in many cases from year to year. That means 400K Hondas per year have the same headlights.

So, for a manufacturer to enter that market, they can just make something in HUGE numbers and make it cheap.

Key word there is CHEAP. We don't use low quality projectors - ours are German Hella H9s. We don't use cheap quality halos, ours are Assembled in the USA and are 3X as bright as anything made by Honda manufacturers. Ours have billet aluminum, not plastic. So, that's why the budget went overboard.

We are a niche manufacturer of high quality products. We don't make cheap stuff.

I don't know it is gay, ricer boys get them for like $130 of ebay, and we can't get projectors under $500.

. If you want HID's that bad and have $500 - $800 to spend then a) make them yourself or b)have them custom made, by http://www.hidtech.com for example.

Uh "nice set"? For $200 you'd be getting APC or Elegante made in China or something...

Thanks for trying guys, I'm actually suprised you guys stuck with trying to make this project come through for so long.

no, I understood just fine, except for a few words here and there, I just thought you were being a bit cowardly writing it in russglish.

Care to let everyone know your opinion so they understand you?

out of respect for the rest, either speak english here, or STFU! you can "pizdet' po russki" in international forum or PM.

Thanks for trying!

There are indeed a few of us out there who will pay $700+ for a quality set of projectors, but we've long realized that there just aren't enough of us to justify this kind of project all by ourselves. Your effort is appreciated.
