Gas light stays on for how long?
I'm poor and spend more money on mods than gas. Does anybody know the amount of miles the maxima can go from when the gas light goes on until it dies? just curious...

i'm not asking about the amount of gasoline left in the tank. I was wondering the amount of miles that one can go from the point that the gas light goes on until the car can't go no more. Has anybody tried this before?

Flash back to the days where you learned simple multiplication.
If you have 1.5 gallons.... and you get 20 miles per gallon.... 1.5 x 20 = 30 miles
Of course, this assumes the car can suck every ounce out of the tank. Personally, I wouldn't bank on anything past 20 miles. Better safe than sorry. It really sucks to run out.

I don't usually let it go down the 1/4 mark, but recently I've been spending my money on school basketball games and eating out, plus the gas prices are higher so I'm running near the empty mark

Letting your gas tank run down to the point that the IDIOT light comes on is not exactly wise to do. Leaving your tank that empty invites moisture to build up on the tank walls which can cause contamination of your fuel system.
Start thinking about getting gas when you start dropping below 1/4 tank, especially in the winter months.

just curious...didn't want to get fcuked up for my thread.
I know that the MPG thing was a big factor and that waiting for the fuel to be starvated was not good. It was just a question...

Here's the thing, takentomax, I don't think you would get more than about 20-21 out of it once the light came on. I tried this out when I first got my max last year.
The light will come on and go off a few times. I didn't time it from that, but that might be what some people are talking about.
I timed it from when the light came on and stayed on, and I only had 1gal. at the most....meaning...I went 20 miles because that is my mpg. Anyway, I died right where there were no stations, and it sucked walking to get some gas.
Like I said, I don't know about the light coming on and then off and then on again, but when it stays on, you had better get your butt into a gas station quickly(within about 20 miles) or you are going to be walking like me.
