Phantom Grip?? Where can I find this??

Well while my mechanic was installing my vbmod onto my car, we started talking about what I could do to my ride. He told me about getting something called Phantom Grip, its suppose to make both tires spin, instead of one. Where can I find this online, well it help? he told me it would, but I just wanted to know you alls opinion. Also he told me about a little experiment they did to there sponsered maxima, the maxima has cams, and headers (the works, running a 125shot of nos), but they wanted to try something, they raced the car and hit a certain time, at the track (ex. 15.3) with the cams and headers and everthing else, then they decided to take out the cams, and bore out/polish the headers (I wasnt paying attention when he told me this) but whatever they did to the headers they hit the same time as if they had the cams. Anyone done this, or konw what I'm talking about? I'll get more details if I can.... I'll most likely do it if, I get the same results as I would if I had cams, save myself a $1000.

The differential assembly is the same in both the manual and auto transmissions.

So porting and polishing gave them the same gains as the cams. What about porting, polishing AND the cams?

I thought the phantom grip was an informerical product. Like a wrech-like thing that grips all sorts of nuts, bolts, and tightens and loosens anything.

Were these JWT cams you can ordered online?

I've heard negative stuff about the Phantom Grip from a couple Honda owners. I'd go for the any aftermarket LSD opposed to that.

I'll get the details about how they ran the cams, and the headers, but from what he told me, they got the same gains, anyhow.... I'll check out that phantom grip thingy, I'll ask more about it with my mechanic and I'll see whats up, thanks

Phantom grip will crap on your spyder gears, people in neons do that and they end up with messed up trannies. Scrap your auto and get I30 5spd tranny with VLSD

Sport Compact Car put one of these in their project 200sx, and their project neon. They loved it because it had the benefits of the Qualife for handling, and the benefits of a viscous for acceleration (maybe the other way around).

I have not heard of problems with these, and they are much cheaper (~300 vs 800 for a Qualife), and they are much easier to intall as well. If neons had problems with it is probably because it is a NEON! Dodge makes crappy parts, which is the reason why their cars don't hold up.

The phantom grip is only available for the 98 and up maximas, and is sold through either summit racing or jcwhitney. I don't know about it being available for autos or not. Hope this helps.

The sponsered Maxima talked about in this post Is mine. Yes the Phantom grip works with automatics and my car is a 96 so it will work for any year 4th gen. I do currently own cams but they were not in the car at the time of the 12 second pass. I have not had a chance to tune the car and I know it is capable of a faster run. I do not have headers.... I have some ported cylinder heads but only done on the exhaust side.My race ported and polished heads will come sometime next month along with the install of the cams and tuning of the car. The cars personal best is a 12.67 on a 125 shot
