Temperature control

hey whats up fellas...Earlier I had a problem with my temperature guage going up very slowly, so I replaced my engine temperature coolant sensor. Immediatley after I replaced the sensor the guage responded. Now the problem that I have is that whenever I sit at a redlight or just drive anywhere for a little bit my temperature guage says my car is running hot. So I turn my heat on and then it goes back down. Other than just riding with my heat on all the time, what should I do? Some one told me that it mighht just be some sort of short in a relay but then again I have no Idea where to check for any of this. Could someone please help my diagnose and fix my problem.

Check and make sure your fan is coming on after it warms up. If you sit still your fan relay should come on

When I sit still the fan does not come on. What do I need to do to fix that? Also, How would I go about checking if the thermastat is sticking?
