CEL and 87 octane?

Yo my stupid CEL came on reciently and I think it may have something to do with me using cheap gas? Well as anyone in SoCal will tell you the gas prices of late have been silly high, so I have been filling up with 87 because I am not rich. Up untill now I have always used at least 91 or higher octane gas but I had CEL issues even then. If any one has experienced this same issue please let me know.

Thanks

$10 says you didnt screw the gas cap on tight enough and tripped the CEL. 87 octane will not through a CEL.

Look it up...if I remember right, an 05 05 code means No Fault Detected.

Oh and stop using crap gas and do it right, you end up paying more money for fuel when you use crappy gas and your fuel economy drops. Use 93 Octane gasoline, without ethanol blends or MTBE if possible.

I'm pretty sure that 91 is the highest octane sold in California. Ohh and its only $2.60 for 91! Thats cheap, haha.
I paid $2.17 for the cheap **** today. I'm sure that old ladies who drive maximas don't put the high octane in there cars. If the car was turbo or forced induction then I would understand that it would be necessary to run the higher octane to prevent detonation, but under normal driving circumstances with a lightly modded max I don't think it will do any damage to the engine.
