Plenty of Juice, but motor wont crank! please help.

Yesterday, I just got home from 45mile drive, and had forgotten to pick something up from the store on my way home, so 15min later after i had parked my car, i went back out to out, tried to start my car, and it wouldnt start! battery was fine, i had power, but it wouldnt crank! no noise no nothing from the motor or starter! (symptom is identical to trying start while the drive selector is in D or R) Anyway i kept trying and trying, and it eventually started. would could be the problem? is my starter bad? i have been experiencing these symptoms with my starter: http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/516

but hadent had time to fix it, anyone had similar problems?

Starter is bad, next time it wont start and you will be in the wrong area. Maybe you fall under the recall list and you can get it replaced for free.

edit: My mistake, it is an alternator recall.. but you will still need to get your starter replaced.

Bang on your starter with a wrench and try to crank it... Most probably your starter is screwed up tho... Mine died like 981239123 times.

Yup, I've had the same problem. I tried a bunch of stuff to try to extend it's life, but none worked all that well. The starter is fairly easy to replace and can be purchased at AutoZone for around 100 bucks. (120 comes to mind, but I can't remember the exact price)

Definitley get your starter checked but that might not always be what it is. If you have an alarm with a kill switch that could also be a problem. The rookie who installed my alarm linked the power of it the the ignition power line and it was causing my starter to not get full 12v power. Evertime I would crank the car the alarm would reset without me knowing it and the kill switch would activate without me knowing it. I unhooked the ground to the alarms power source and my car cranked right up. Thank god for clutch starting! It was like 20 degrees when this problem started happening and I was far from home.

Bang on your starter a few times though....just in case that is what it is
