labor only $300-$550. I do clutch/flywheel/LSD installs here in Atl. $300 for labor is good if the person that does it knows what they are doing. To resurface the flywheel $45-$55 depends on where you go.

A lightened flywheel is a great idea. it reduces a lot of static friction, but doesnt add any horse power. As for a clutch i would go oem, i paid 150 for mine with a pressure plate and throwout bearing and changed it myself on jack stands. i havent heard great things about the act clutch for everyday driving too so be careful in perchasing a clutch.

I have a ACT in all my daily drivers
theres nothing wrong with the MPP and the street disc. Both maximas are boosted. No problems what so ever. Dont know whos feeding the negative hype about ACT.

i've mine in for 8 months with no complaints. the clutch just picks up faster than stock.OT: Jay thanks for the hook up with the ecu. much appreciated

GET a lightened flywheel if you are replacing the clutch. I have Fidanza and it is great, but I say get an ACT clutch because the OEM unit I went with is not quite up to the job. The lightened flywheel makes a BIG difference when the engine revs. You will notice a good improvement in acceleration and as long as you don't get a flywheel that is too light you will not notice any more vibration. Trust me it is worth the money. DO IT.

I love the clutch...my tranny had problems that the clutch helped along, but the clutch is a fine piece of hardware.
If you drive the car properly, you should have no trouble. I think the negative response to ACT clutches come from people who drive their cars too hard. It does engage a lot quicker than stock, so you can abuse your tranny if you don't drive right.
It does suck in heavy traffic; the pedal becomes quite heavy. Maybe I'm just a wuss

Is replacing the clutch/flywheel a difficult job? Im still a newbie and do not have any experience with doing anything with tranny, clutch or flywheel but I learn quick. Can a noob get it done with a service manual?

Obtained a Chilton's repair manual in order to get though all of this.
( Over here in Germany Maxima is not such a popular car, so there is no
German version available until now - ... maybe I should translate this one for
Max drivers over here ... ?).
But I would never start doing this job by my own trusting only a manual.
I would ask a more experient friend or neighbour for assistance, or if not availble I would rather invest the bucks in a professionel mechanic.
