Do you feel guilty?

I just dropped my car off at the dealer for it's oil change and 5-point check, but for some reason I feel really guilty now

I usually do it my self, but this time I can't (living in a halls of residence at Uni). It's an odd feeling, at the end of the day, my Maxima's only a car, but I feel like I've betrayed it by not doing it my self. Felt especially bad when I got in the courtesy car (a brand new Nissan Pulsar btw), I swear my Max was glaring at me, lol.

Anyone else experianced this?

I hate dropping my caroff anywhere. I like doing things myself, but when ever I do drop it off, esp. overnight, I feel bad. You're not alone

i've been doin my own oil change for the last 20k. but recently i just got sooOoo lazy (college makes people people) and i don't wanna do anything to my car. so i have wal-mart do the oil change for me. haha ghetto!

to be honest, i kinda lost passion on maxima. my car runs great and it's in good condition, i keep it well maintaned and it takes me from point A to point B safely, and that's all i care really...

laziness 0wns....

Just got it back, yay! That Pulsar felt so weak in comparison, lol.

They seemed to have done a good job, they even cleaned it, put some polish on the tyres, gave me a "Prestige Quality" bag ( I assume it's a rubbish bag) and a pack of "Prestige Quality" tissues. All for only NZ$91.50

Your dealers treat you well I see. By where I live, Nissan dealers suck, theres a couple okay ones; but they dont do anything like give out loaners, nor do they wash the car. . . . but on topic; I always drop my car off to have an oil change, I would do it myself, but I don't have a driveway to work in comfortably.

i've done my own oil change since ive got the car (only one needed so far), but when i take it to a car wash cuz its dirty and its like 14 degrees out, i feel bad because i like washing the car, and doing everything myself, but i cant handle this unbearable cold. But come summer, me and my baby will get to know each other real well

i will always do my own oil changes even if it means putting a couple thousand extra miles on it before i can get to it. tests have proven that any decent oil lasts well beyond the traditional 3k miles. i think i have paid for or used free coupons for only 3 or 4 oil changes in my life and i have regretted every one of them for some reason or another. 3 reasons that come to mind are:
1) oil filter put on WAY too tight. impossible to get off the next time when i do it myself
2) oil overfilled
3) unless you are already getting all your service work done there anyway (which i wouldn't), they inevitably call you with their list of things that MUST also be done or else your car is gonna self destruct. with the guilt trip they lay on you of course 90% of people don't know any better and do what they say. i don't know how some of those people sleep at night.

so i guess for me its not so much about the guilt or the money but rather stress management.

I always do my oil changes myself no matter how cold or hot it is, but I had to take it in to the dealer once cause it was snowing and I was like already 800 miles over my normal 3,000mile oil change. I felt like I was dropping my pre-teen daughter off at her first school dance. I wanted to wait by the window and protect her, but I couldn't...lol

This is a Pulsar, http://www.nissan.co.nz/vehicles/pulsar/ . Nissans entry level Sedan here The one I got to drive only had 100km on the clock

I didn't really want to wait it out, I was already 2000km over my normal 10,000km change. They also checked drive belts, cooling system, air cleaner element and tyre conditions which it passed for all

The reason why nissan dealerships in aus and NZ seem to treat people better is probably because nissans are seen as pretty high class cars over there. infiniti doesnt exit over there, and what he has is probably a rebadged I30 which they call a maxima over there.

hahah the PULSAR!! This is a little OT but I am studying in Australia now and we rented a Pulsar for 50$AU a day with FULL insurance - that car has NO B@lls at all. SO SLOWW and we got the 5spd so we burned out and thrashed it up. My Maxima would MURDER the Pulsar but still it was a nice little car i suppose - kinda like the US's Nissan Sentra.Ahhh good times.

Yeah, I felt underpowered in the Pulsar I was no longer first off at the lights, and I felt crammed inside. For a brand new car, my 97 Maxima looked more modern on the inside, the Pulsar has dials and sliders, compared to the push buttons that the Maxima has.

I can't bear to drop my Max off anywhere. The sad, betrayed look she gives me just kills me.
Actually, I've never taken a car anywhere for an oil change. I always want to do it myself so I can inspect the entire car, and I also don't trust other people. I'm also **** about letting the oil drain for a long time to get rid of most of the crud in the bottom of the pan. Not to mention how **** I am about oil type/brand....

Matt_NZ,
OT, but you all have right hand drive, don't you? Is there any way you could check to see what cost and shipping of a right hand side window switch is for the front? This way, our left hand drives could have the same controls on the passenger side, including one touch down and access to all 4 windows for the passenger. I've all ready swapped mine just to see if it will work, and it does (my driver's plugs in to the passenger connector, and controls everything). I just thought it could be cool, and my wife would enjoy having her own controls. Just wondering if it would be worth the money and or hassle of sourcing the part. Thanks.

Dave

Hey Dave. This was brought up a few months ago, was even put in the group buy forum, but it sorta fell apart, mainly because a) The colours for the controls that has lights in all the buttons only came in grey (thats the only interior colour for the Maxima here) and b) there was concern if the right hand panel would control the correct windows (I think it was either thought or proven that if you pressed the auto down button, it'd operate the drivers side).

The controls can be had in black and woodgrain from the Cefiro, but they don't have lights in all buttons, only the Auto down, window lock and door lock buttons. If you are good at wiring stuff, you could re-wire the panel so the buttons work with the right side, you'd just need to somehow find out which wire corresponds to which button (a tech manual may have this).
