I may not be understanding all this cuz im a newbie..but does a K&N air filter make any difference in power or sound?..i mean its like $50 more dollars than a normal fram air filter

AIRBOX HACKED!!!

Well it took me a while but it was worth it...

I don't have a dremel so I did it all with a drill. The sound is stock up till 3k ... then its like im running a 5.0L 300hp demon. I love the roar and the best part...it was FREE!

That's really low. I am getting on my max all the time, only getting 20mpg and I still get like 350 miles per tank.

Get a cone filter, midpipe and a muffler. Best sound you can get on a budget Deep rumble up front that becomes a scream when you really get on it and the rear is just deep sounding and somewhat burbly. Put together its a great combo

i wanted to buy one of those dirt cheap cone filters on ebay. is that better then the hacked airbox?

It would make the engine slightly louder...since it gets rid of all the baffles and other noise reducing parts in the stock airbox. Performance wise I think I've read that a hacked airbox is better...

I would say so. The stck filter is very air restrictive. But the drawback of that is that the cheap e-bay crap will not stop all the particles in the incoming air, allowing some to get to the engine. I have one and if I was to do it again I would go for the K&N for $40 or so more. If you don't want to spend that money get on e-bay and choose one in the color you like to complement rest of your car/mods.
