Stripped Strut Mount Nut, Suggestions?

The installation of my GR2s was going great until I went to torque the upper 3 nuts on the strut mount. I replaced the OEM nuts with the nuts that came in the kit I bought with the strut bearings. I tightened nut 1 till it "clicked" then when to nut 2..I went back to nut 1 to double check and could get 2-3 more turns before it click, and then went back to nut 2, and then same thing happened...i kept going back and forth..I got a little suspicious..I went ahead and stupidly put in the third nut, and at a certain point the bolt kept turning and not tightening and now i can't loosen or tighten it. I went back and replaced the first 2 nuts with the OEM nuts and they tightened just fine..are there tools to cut off this 3rd mount nut without having to pull out the strut and replace the threaded mounting plate?

Use a rotative tool and cut the nut.

This just happened to me also and I had to get a new mounting plate because the thread was stripped as well as the nut.

What rotative tool? Is there a special tool I could pick up to split the mount nut or do I just use a Dremel and cut it in half? This is starting to worry me, I'm just not sure how far the mount nut went before it stripped.....

Use a Dremel tool to cut it, it's gonna be ok.

This is why they say to loosen the nut before you check the torque on a nut or bolt. In effect, you can't really check it, you have to loosen and retighten. Most of the time you won't get bit, but occasionally you do, especially with the less expensive clicker type torque wrenches.

I didn't know that about checking torque...I guess I'm paying the price...well, when it warms up again, I guess it'll be me and the Dremel and the mount nut....thanks for help and advice!
