Intake resonator removal

Correct me if I'm wrong, a CAI or Hybrid system will have their resonators removed.
While people have been praising that you get an awesome sound from it, I've also noticed some people are reattaching the resonators because it's too loud.

Being loud isn't much of an issue for me. Actually, some sound would be very appealing.

However, I would like to know whether or not the sound is drowning at high cruising speeds like 75mph+ (with the resonators removed).

Also, the SI or the JWT Pop are just attached to the MAF with the resonator in tact. Then why does it sound louder as people seem to say? (Is it as loud as a CAI?)

My car felt smoother at all RPM bands with factory resonator than it did with my midpipe.

I removed the resonators on my intake and I really didnt notice any sound change at highway speed unless you are at WOT

Yep, very true.

Removing the resonator will not cause a resonating effect. It only gets loud when you lay into the throttle. At cruise it's no louder than stock.

With the resonator in place you'll get a smoother feeling engine, a less deep induction sound, and slightly better low rpm driveability. With the resonator removed the engine will feel slightly buzzier (especially at WOT), the intake will be loud at WOT, and low rpm performace may feel boggy sometimes. Above the 4000rpms, the VQ seems to be more snappy. It's all a trade off. There's good and bad with each setup. I personnaly like my hacked airbox with the midpipe. The hacked airbox seems feel better at all rpms compared to the hybrid setup and having the midpipe gives me that throaty WOT sound I crave. With no resonator, it's kind of like having an exhaust you can turn on and off with the throttle.
