Y Pipe install question
Y Pipe install question
How high and which part of the frame does the car have to be lifted in order to remove and install the y-pipe.
I was thinking that maybe I could use the emergency jack off my car.. but I'm not sure it would lift high enough... or if it would be safe.
I have access to a Pathfinder jack, and a friend of mine says he has a "professional" jack, but I don't know if they would work either.
Maybe I'll purchase a car ramp of sort, if it would work... but without a garage, that's kind of a hastle to keep around.
Anybody have an idea of what should be done?

Oh, one more thing. I'm pretty sure the nuts and bolts are rusted. I have 147k. Is it possible to break any of them trying to remove it?
I'd use WD-40 but I'm not sure if it would work.
Even if it did, would I be able to use the same bolts to attach the Y pipe again? (or do the y pipes come with their own set of bolts).

you'd wnat to use ramps, you get just enough clearance to work on the pipes, the new ypipe shoudlve came with the 12mm bolts for the cat converter, you can reuse the 6 14 mm bolts on the manifold theys hould be easy to get off, its the cat bolts you need tow orry about, i live in the northeast so they were ridiculously rusted to the point they'd just break, use WD-40 and just have patience i imagine if the bolts look like theyre in workable shape, i dont know if a propane torch works to loosen the bolts that might be an option in combo with WD-40.
