warpspeed y o2 sensor problems

recently had a shop install my warpspeed y and b&m sts. the ecu code for front o2 sensors came up. didnt think much of it and resetted it a couple times. im beginning to think it might be something. could the sensors be broken? i changed them a couple months ago. or could this just be normal? another note... engine light does not come on immediately after i start the car. it does a while after reset.

one other thing that i have neglected. when i start the car sometimes (not usually) i hear a grinding sound and the rpm may go up to 1500 and die out with grinding sounds. recently there have been a couple times when the rpm only hits maybe 2-300 rpms and stall out. it takes a few tries to get the car started.

oh yea... btw 97 se manual

thanks

I just installed my warpspeed y pipe and it didn't have any problems with the o2 sensors. As for the idle try cleaning your throttle body, new spark plugs. Try greasing your starter too because that should help with starting.

You might have an air leak at the O2 sensor bungs or at the headers. This would make the O2 sensors read a (faulty) lean condition, which the ecu will correct for, making your car run and idle very rich. This is why your idle is so low. If the leak is bad enough, the ecu can not supply enough correction for what it thinks is a lean condition, and the ecu will assume the O2 sensors are faulty and throw codes.
