re-key door locks and igniton?

about a week ago my wife got her purse stolen @ work with her car keys in it... then just yesterday morning her car got jacked in front of our house... then later in the afternoon my sister spotted the car and followed the thief while relaying it to the police, when the police jumped in the chase the chick driving was the same chick suspected of taking my wife's purse when she was arrested no keys were found on her @ the time... I was told by many of my friends to re-key my car door locks and ignition... I checked with my insurance but for some reason they would not cover it because it was not found @ the "GTA crime" but was reported missing in the "purse theft crime" so I have a friend who does this sort of thing (locksmith) but his tools are @ work... he could do the work but I have to pull out the locks myself to get it done free of charge, if i were to bring the car in it would cost more than i'm willing to spend...
I just want to know if anybody knows how and could make a write-up for me or e-mail me on how to do it correctly w/o F'n up anything, I'd do it with out a write-up but I don't want to jack anything up with out knowing how to do it first.

any help will do, thanks

maybe you could just change one pin in the locks, then you could just grind down the keys in one spot, that would be easier then getting all new locks.
