Blue smoke coming out of the exhuast?

Blue smoke coming out of the exhuast?

I have blue smoke coming out of my exhuast and the engine is pinging... 93 octane is being used... i was wondering what the problem was... anyone know?

Used to be it was a sign of burning OIL. Dont know for sure now.

blue smoke = oil is slipping past your piston rings and burning up in the chambers with the fuel

You are deffinity burning oil... Do a compression check on each cylinder to see if your within spec's.
If your compression turns out to be ok. Then it is probably a bad spark plug tube seal on the underside of your valve cover. These are round rubber gaskets. If these are bad then you could probably be leaking oil through where the spark plugs tread in. Thus fouling your spark plugs & causing your vehicle to ping.........

pinging + blue smoke = oil burning

my 96 was blowin blue also;and it was a spark plug seal letting oil pass it

Well it may... the thing with those additives is that they add viscousity.... or "thickness" to your oil. So if a small amount of oil is by passing your rings or whatever... it may prevent that. Or thats the idea at least
