I have blue smoke coming out of my exhuast and the engine is pinging... 93 octane is being used... i was wondering what the problem was... anyone know?

 

Used to be it was a sign of burning OIL. Dont know for sure now.

You are deffinity burning oil... Do a compression check on each cylinder to see if your within spec's.
If your compression turns out to be ok. Then it is probably a bad spark plug tube seal on the underside of your valve cover. These are round rubber gaskets. If these are bad then you could probably be leaking oil through where the spark plugs tread in. Thus fouling your spark plugs & causing your vehicle to ping.........

my 96 was blowin blue also;and it was a spark plug seal letting oil pass it

 

How many miles does it have? 141k here and no smoke at all

while were ont he same topic, im wondering if that Alemite CD-2 actually helps slow down or prevent the blow-by, ive read stuff bout it on the net, but no concrete evidence ( i havnet searched vigorously)

 

Well it may... the thing with those additives is that they add viscousity.... or "thickness" to your oil. So if a small amount of oil is by passing your rings or whatever... it may prevent that. Or thats the idea at least
