Maxima SE or ES?

Does anyone know if there is a suspension difference between the SE and the ES (apparently the ES is a Canadian model)? I test drove an ES and could've sworn it drove like a GLE.

Thanks
Mike

I've never heard of a Maxima ES, I've heard of a Maxima QX though which is actually an I30/I35 but in Europe it's called the Maxima...

The ES version is not a french version of the SE !! Its a special edition in which they gave you the looks of the SE without all the added benefits... You got the mags, the fog lights a rear spoiler but thats about it. Think of it as an upscale GXE... They still sold the SE at the same time, which has all the added benefits we already know about...

Hehe, I hear you there. The same dealer would probably tell you it's ok to put API GL5 trans oil in your manual since it's newer and one step better...

I put some Amsoil TGR 2000 in mine this weekend... Wow !! I'm amazed, it shifts much more smoothly now !!

The ES was available only in Canada and has most of the same features as the SE. I remember the sunroof and trunk spoiler were the only things left off.

The ES was a dealer promo in Canada, not factory, they were base models that weren't selling so well (friend of mine a sales manager of Nissan Dealer in Vancouver, BC, Canada) so they put add on's such as SE wheels, some spoilers, driving lights etc. They looked like SE's were cheaper and sold well, but they didn't have any factory SE parts.. no White face guages and especially no SE suspension! The french thing is funny though! Typical salesman BS!

I have an ES....

bought new after carefully checking the factory folder, which I still have.

Yes it is a Canadian only model.

It has all the useful goodies of the SE, like viscous limited slip, traction control, shocks, white gauges, ALL the good stuff.

It skips leather and sunroof etc that cost thousands for nothing. Cause we're poor but still like fast cars. There are also ES out there with a sunroof, so I think leather was the main delete from the SE.

Really....

To make it handle better, add a rear sway bay and decent tires. The stock RS-A's sucked soooo bad.

When Nissan Canada does a deal like this again (go fast goodies, no extra junk), I might trade for a new one.

No, nothing to do with the French :-)

I have a 99Es and a 96 Gle and basically, the Es has the white gauge and a sportier suspension. On a same curve, my 96 can go max at 60 Kph while the Es i can through it at 80Kph before i feel like it's "boating" and the tires screeching.
The Es has no leather, sunroof and spoiler, they r optional. Besides that, the ES and SE r the same. I was considering a 98 SE before buying the 99 ES.

Hope this helps.
