High flow cat?

I'm about to install a new y-pipe. I'm also concidering getting hi-flow cat. Can anyone tell me the advantage and disadvantage of having one. I mean is there a big gain over the stock cat with y-pipe? Appreciate your help max family.

i think must people will say this will not free up much power on a NA car. i have a test pipe but have been thinking about taking it off, replacing with stock cat to see what happens. just not sure, either way i dont think stock cat, high flow cat or test pipe will make or break you. if you have turbo then from what i understand you will get more results

96white, any difference in power since you added the high flow cat?

I dynoed before and after adding both UDPulley and hi flow cat (the best cat you can buy [namely the metallic substrate hi flow cat from warpspeed]) and I saw gains that I would reasitically say were ONLY due to the UDP. I think its safe to say (IMO) that the money that you would spend on a hi flow cat is much better spent on something else... like lighter wheels...

From what I hear the y-pipe is the best way to increase horsepower. I recently put in a greddy catback with a highflow cat from warpspeed performance. I kept the y-pipe stock since I found it hard to get the oxygen sensors off, and may affect passing emissions if you don't heat the car up prior to getting it tested. The reason I replace the cat was the stock cat doesn't have boltss it has studs, and the stud was rusted so I had to cut it off. In order to reinstall the stock cat I would have had to drill holes in the cat and gets some bolts. Also the metal hanger in front of the cat was completely rusted, so I had to remove it to install a new hanger. People say 1 horsepower gain with aftermarket cat.
